St. Alexis, the Man of God: Life & Akathist Hymn

Shining forth at the beginning of the 5th century, St. Alexis left the home of his noble parents in Rome on his wedding night and devoted himself to a pilgrimage into a severe ascetic life. Returning after 17 years to Rome by God's providence, he took up begging at the gate of his parents' estate, unrecognized until his death. Saddle-stitched
